To those of you haven’t watched Inu X Boku SS, here’s some lame effort from me to convince you on watching it, it’s one of the surprises and hidden treasures of this season. At first glance, you wouldn’t be sure if Inu x Boku SS really has the potential to be a great anime. The animation is honestly not convincing, but the audio is topnotch. Now if you wonder, what is the trick here in series that makes it good? Read on as I discuss why… SPOILER WARNING: Succeeding paragraphs may contain unintended or inexcusable spoilers. Another continues to blow my mind with it’s Horror-Mystery done right. It’s a nice proper mix of the genres, direction, and writing that gives a nice thrilling product. It’s also the most consistent of all the currently-airing series in terms of Audio-Visual presentation. Mouretsu Pirates is slowly losing it’s consistency — visual presentation-wise, that is. I’ve read the manga adaptation recently, and I can say the anime adaptation excellently adapts the main idea of the story. OOOOOOOOOOOHH BOOOOOOOOOOOOOYY. Did I just let my animal nature rule over my mind? I just picked this show becuase of some screenshots noting it to have a “good” slice-of-life comedy mixed with ecchi themes and gags. I would not say “My body wasn’t ready!” over this show. Why? I expected EVERYTHING — from the horrible art to the senseless fanservice and sex-themed gags. There are some room for some good yuri-pairing imaginations but since it’s outrightly CRAP, I won’t bother to ship any nor watch this series any further. Also, please forgive me for not having much screenshots on this anime, most of it are totally NSFW.
Oh man… I pity this series for it’s high ambitions, they’re still trying to reach it though. Mr.A warned me about continuing my quest for this during the Roundtable Otakus recording in the past few weeks, however some factors in Ano Natsu de Matteru and my tiredness with romance genre made me decide to put on-hold, so it gave me some time to rewatch this series and see for myself whether it’s because of apparent flaw(s) or it’s really bad. In my watch, it had been the former. I also see this as heavy “Your Mileage May Vary” series that’s only ‘very good’ at it’s best, and ‘mediocre’ at worst. It’s flawed yet I still don’t have the urges to drop this. Why? There are several things to speculate and do since it borrows some elements from several media, one can also spot several references to them.
Oh AnoNatsu, I thank thee. I thank thee for the most difficult and challenging Thought Digest article to write. I thank thee for making me go nuts. I thank thee for being inconsistently fluctuating from lame to just very good. I thank thee for giving me courage to (re)watch Guilty Crown and Starry Sky which entertained me more… I thank thee for decreasing my watchlist by one series… WAIT… WAIT… WAIT… Am I ranting again there? Please don’t mind my comments up there for I tend to commit some logical fallacies whenever I rant because of total and utter disappointment. Is it because I’m already full with romance anime? The latter case here is probably the reason why, and my decision to put this series on-hold is a logical one.
Even though the fourth episode would be aired this upcoming Tuesday, I would still be writing about my thoughts on Another‘s first three episodes. The recently-concluded third epside provoked me to planning for Thought Digests in three parts before I make a final review of this series. This article may not be fit to be under In-Review, though. The title says it all, it’s a shock-and-awe experience that’s very well suited for the Horror genre, and that’s one of the reasons why I love this show. It’s currently competing with Mouretsu Pirates for the top spot on my list. SPOILER WARNING: The succeeding paragraphs may contain unintended or inexcusable spoilers
If you still don’t know who this awesome guy is, then I have to reintroduce him to you. Kamiya Hiroshi is one of the renowned seiyuu in today’s times. He is famous for portraying the main character in Sayounara Zetsubou Sensei, Nozomu Itoshiki. He’s also known for playing Tieria Erde from Mobile Suit Gundam 00. He also hosts several radio talk shows like Dear Girl Stories. Currently, he’s also a recording artist under the Kiramune label, with a couple of singles and an album released.
Pardon for the “jologs” pic you see above. It’s been years and I can’t seem to find a decent enough picture of that said program. Anyhoo, now that you’re confused on the purpose of this post. Let me share a bit of a story, which if you known my works, I had written about this topic 3 years ago in my defunct Xagenda blog. So I figured talk about it again and see what kind of legacy this show did and how it shaped the Animation industry in bringing “anime” quality to the masses.
I get to read a lot of comparisons over the old Hunter vs the New one. How one is better than the other. But it always get to me that people compare it far more than actually looking at the actual episode. One known blogger seem to get stuck in that tangent, and I often find it irritating to read. So since I’m writing few episodes this season and one last season, starting next week onwards I’ll be doing episode blogging of Hunter X Hunter.
Honestly, I picked this show up because of the Secret Service and Youkai themes present in the story. Did it make any difference or good mixture? Does the Romance genre mix with the two themes well? Did this show meet my expectations of it? It wasn’t up to my expectation but it still manage to entertain me. Our butler, erm, Secret Service agent is assigned to our ultra-rich heroine. He devotes himself and his loyalty to our heroine and uses tons of innovative weapons. Nope, no guns yet, but he has a good swanky knowledge of pick-up lines that Boy Pick-up would envy, and a suave bishounenbody and voice combo that would give both Mr.A and James Bond a run for their money.
