Last Impression: Dog Days

June 28th, 2011 by Mr.A

Dog Days isn’t that anime that can break the cult of Madoka, nor disband the SOS brigade. It takes a certain enthusiast to appreciate the simplicities that this anime bring. It neither amazing, nor mind breaking. It wasn’t even deep and thought provoking. But in those days, where you are out of your life’s stress, having the constant reminder that life can never be complicated and consequences dire. You just need a breather and take a non-critical, non-stressing Anime as Dog days, without having to pamper yourself with a myriad of Panty shots, or sexual innuendos. If you want simple, relaxing anime, I can simply recommend this to you.

Dog Days 8: The War Begins

June 12th, 2011 by Mr.A

The secret is out. Not really, at least Leon’s vassals at least now know what on earth their dear princess is doing all this time. Taking the National Treasure as another means to see if it can change the permanent demise printed in the stars. Sure thing, this campaign is going to get epic, and we’re just at the tip of it. So as the title of this episode says.

Dog Days 7: Declaration of War

June 10th, 2011 by Mr.A

Oh no. I didn’t drop this series. I was about to change fansub, when my old one pop his very late version of 7. And since he is back doing this, I’ll just have to wait for the other 3 to show up and review it. Anyway, to continue the spirit of Episode blogging. Dog Days 7 -an episode that people would had seen by know- just shows, how double meaning goes, when a mere solider play fetch with the Dog Princess. I would had shown her tail waggling like she’s having an emotional orgasm -over 9000!!!

Dog Days 6: Fortune Telling Princes

May 19th, 2011 by Mr.A

Dog Days maintains the momentum of cuteness with its current episode. Rather than continue the status quo, we’re finally shed to light a much darker take behind the war monger Leonmitchel to take down the Princess down to her throne.

You know what, if I’m going to keep writing stuff about Dog Days; I might as well make an episode article about it. But unlike Anton, I’m not blogging about the entire episode but I’m rather commenting on the stuff that happens and what transpired from it – from my interpretation of course.

All those accumulated energy from the last episode finally gave way on this one, as Shinku and Gaul battle it out to the de-er…I mean to the last man standing. Although the kidnapping was all a misunderstanding, the level of cuteness in this episode is simply staggering. I just can’t help but smile upon seeing all the pretty picture. Kinda funny that I’m liking this show for being thinly-plotted and mostly doesn’t really have anything of significant contribution to the overall magnitude of how awesome this season is. Come on, I have a lot of anime to cover and I only dropped one so far.

Although we are seeing love plots brewing with the princess and Shiku. I don’t think we’ll be seeing a harem here. So far, the tsun-tsun green haired captain and the princess showed some interest. Leon doesn’t really have any feeling for the hero, other than respect. The relationship between Leon and the princess may stem at some point. The conversation in the flying foot glider thing is a bit cliche but it was intended to put more closeness to Shinku and the princess, so it still has a purpose.

I also agree with achiisan on this. Unlike Fractale and other shows during the past season, Dog Days isn’t that type of anime that tries to become something that it isn’t. What it simply does, is just to become what it wants, a fun show, like how Niizuma (Bakuman) draws his manga. It just flows to what it wants.

As long at it keeps me and other people from loving the fighting, the blaring cuteness, and wholesome fanservice. I’m sticking to this show, and will defend it for being what it is – an honestly fun show.

Since the kidnapping arc is over, I’m eagerly waiting for the next one. Just keep the three points I told you and you’ll be my personal best.
