Final Impression: Usagi Drop

September 16th, 2011 by Mr.A

I’ll leave the episode title as it is, since, well you get the idea. In today’s era of anime. We get to see the genre slice-of-life being thrown around in numerous instances. We got slice-of-life Baka to Test, Hayate no Gotoku, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Love Hina … mostly allo of the shows fit in the genre. It is hard to differentiate what is a true slice-of-life series. But I can happily say, Usagi Drop is certainly a best slice-of-life this year and it may perhaps goes to be the winner for the 2011 best anime.

Usagi Drop 10: Stomach Flu

September 11th, 2011 by Mr.A

This episode hit so many of my emotional strings, I just can’t stop tears falling for my eyes. Usagi drop just warmed up my heart, not only as for my budding parental instincts, but also as my emotions as a caring son. The emotional explosion that Daikichi has when Rin got sick is spot on. My mind just got blown up with ideas that made this entire episode so great. Rather than showing my fanbosim on such; better get to the meat of the matter.

Usagi Drop 9: A Typhoon Came

September 3rd, 2011 by Mr.A

Kouki got its own episode this week. Oh boy I can relate to this well. Not really for me, but for my nephew who is really a pain in the ass. But anyway, amazing, amazing episode. I never felt this moved by an Anime since Tokyo Magnitude 8. It also made me think a lot in the Anime clichés that we all knew; like slice-of-life and moe. It’s an amazing series, balanced, and well thought out. Unanimous conclusion overall. I may run out of praises if I continue, so let’s get on to this episode shall we?

Usagi Drop 8: Grandpa’s Precious Thing

August 27th, 2011 by Mr.A

I never had the change to write anything about the previous episode due to time constraints. But I can say that the previous one is one hell of a good episode. Despite not having that Ano Hana tear effect. The message that is conveyed in the episode connects right to the dot, in particular dealing with parenting and in-laws. Enough about that, let’s talk about this weeks Usagi Drop, and oh boy, Rin’s mother is having insecurities.

Usagi Drop 6: My Tree

August 13th, 2011 by Mr.A

Rin is now in Elementary, and it is a new leaf for both Daickichi and Rin. It is also the start of building Rin, Kouki’s childhood relationship. This episode further gives Rin a much more importance to the family, as commemorated with the tree planting tradition. A gesture that made her feel longing for someone to be with her. With Kouki in the mix, it also develops his character, which somewhat makes Daikichi see his childhood self. The chemistry between those two, is like Rin being with Daikichi, but on a same age level.

Raising a child is a difficult endeavor, and only parents seems to have the power to withstand its implications. But sometimes, it can fall into a rather indifferent views. In this case, Rin mother falls into that “She’s too young to be a mother” bandwagon, that she hasn’t able to grasp the circumstances she is on. There are a lot of tell-tell signs around her, and her habit of brushing her hair during moments of insecurity. I don’t see her as someone with the proper self-esteem or confidence to dedicate herself with Rin. She is the opposite of Daikichi of being responsible toward his duties as a guardian of Rin. This episode reels in the case, where one chooses career over her children as so much as Rin mother is. The series is really brilliant in keeping the story contained in the actions of the characters rather than in the dialogue. I’m not confident I can understand the parenting issues being shown, but from my point-of-view it does its job well.

Usagi Drop 04: Letter

August 2nd, 2011 by Mr.A

I don’t have anything to say about this, beside that Rin is an adorable kid. Why can’t kids be like this? I’m living with 2 kids from my sisters and they are miles away from her. Annoying little devils who’s only purpose is ruin your day and break your things. Thank god, they never break any of my computer stuff or else I have to take this in serious considerations. Ehem…I guess Rin is getting more and more attach to Daikichi, and the people around Rin is starting to adore her. Who wouldn’t a shy girl that doesn’t annoy you and thinks about the people around her is something you would like to have. No wonder people watching it has their paternal instincts firing up.

Usagi Drop 3: Daikichi’s Decision

July 23rd, 2011 by Mr.A

Usagi Drop. Yes, I’m a weeboo for using this name and not Bunny Drop. But hey, we got our own way of accepting things. But before I begin. I’m glad that I can start writing anime again. This week has been hectic with the big boss going down and training me. I can’t really pull much to between those days, and it has been a learning experience to me. But anyway on to anime.

Usagi Drop 2: Yubikiri genman

July 18th, 2011 by Mr.A

Usagi Drop keeps the dialogue to a minimum, or at least the exposition part of it. Most of the episode is based on show and let the audience piece together the emotions being brought out. I like also the level of maturity for both Daikichi and Rin, and how they see each other. You know, let’s get over with the episode shall we?
