Oh yeah, Kokoro Connect is still god-tier drama. And damn, this episode is also thought-provoking, aside from just entertaining! Thankfully it’s not as depression-triggering as Sakamichi no Apollon, Tari Tari, or Amagami SS; which is quite refreshing as it shows that non-depressing thought-provoking writing could be as solid as the depressing ones.
Aside from Another, I can’t think of any other modern drama that could ‘properly’ mix the supernatural theme with the writing. Kokoro Connect is proving itself to be good example of proper mixing of the genre and the theme. This episode instead mixes romantic drama, bits of comedy, and supernatural. A lot of lines in this episode could make you rethink yourself and your past. That’s just a sample of how powerful this episode is. Another power of this episode is that the romance and chemistry between Taichi and Inaba works well in the narrative of the club trying to deal and live with the various experiments Heartseed is subjecting them. Speaking of Heartseed, another “Heartseed” is making the event of making the club members, Taichi excluded, to return to their “past” physical and mental conditions. If I’m correct, this one is another analogy for a psychological theory on a developmental stage. But whatever it is, the fact that it makes them recall their past memories creates intriguing drama. I can’t wait for the next episode!
