Oh yes, Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse’s episode 5 shows more crappy visuals than I totally expect from Satelight. Truly, Satelight Studio Sucks™. Visual quality aside, Total Eclipse is still great. For the record, it’s not my favourite for this season, and not like what the bishounen thinks. The geopolitical commentary present in this episode is still god-tier. Deep and rewarding would be one way of summarising the experience of watching this, however you’ll need to put yourself in a neutral perspective in order to see the said commentary between the dialogues and premise.
Perhaps all of the narration techniques are shifting from time-to-time so it could adjust for character development, and the introduction of new characters. Since the story is about the research and development process occuring in Alaska, we get to see mecha action and some military drama courtesy of Yuuya. I still believe that the military life presented here is lax, even if it is narrating the life of Ace Pilots in a multinational mission to improve the world’s defense against the BETA. Finally in this episode, Yuuya gets to manipulate his TSF properly in a combat against Yui Takamura and won! Somehow, the rifts between them are already solved when Yuuya finally realised that he isn’t entirely different from Yui. Only mysterious characters remaining are the Scarlet Twins. What are their purpose? Apparently, they’re with the Soviets operating in Alaska… Hmmm… This is getting more and more interesting…
Also, I would like to share this comment by Andmeuths:
How long would it be before we see Yui x Yuuya shipping pictures (=
One could argue that their relationship is dripping with alot of belligerent sexual tension, though arguably, Yuuya started the whole mess by insulting Yui.
I replied that to his comment from last week that it’s too early to ship them, but I guess I’ll have to eat what I said. They’re shippable, but with Yui as the dominatrix… Hehehe.
