Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse 04

By on Mon, 23rd Jul 2012

Goddamn it. Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse may be excellent in narrating the military life and mecha themes, but how Satelight is fucking up the visuals is hard to ignore. Character animations in this single episode contained shit far more worse than what I saw in the entire Mouretsu Pirates series. I normally would not be complaining nor ranting about something bad because I totally believe that I should only be saying positive things; but what I just saw in this episode is jaw-droppingly stupid and pure bullshit in this age.

…yet despite all of those rants, I’m still entertained with this episode. Why would I resist military drama, mecha, and apocalyptic genres and themes especially if they’re matched with excellent writing, direction, and narration. Each line and event captures and narrates the life within a military diplomatic mission, albeit what’s shown here is a little laidback compared to its real life counterparts. How the lines were written reeks of sociopolitical commentary. See the conflict between Yui Takamura and Yuuya Bridges? Listen to them and take notes, you would see a dozen on each interaction. I wouldn’t dare to identify them all at this point though, because it might spoil everything Also, the fact that the Soviet Union exists in this sotry furthermore boosts my intrigue over this great story.
