It’s another lighthearted comedic episode for Hyouka! And why am I getting tired with all of these slice-of-life aspects? I might be expecting too much from this, time to watch it without any expectation, then. So far, it was utterly hilarious especially with Houtarou being practically bored with his tasks. Special mention should also go to his exploration of Eru’s photographs taken during her ‘exploration’ of the Cultural Festival.
Hilariousness aside, there were some scenes that wasn’t connected well to the main story and they could potentially bore the audience to the point of the series being dropped. Certainly, episode 12 and this are merely narrations of the main characters’ lives, but this series is known for it’s narration-style that brings surprises even if the answer/mystery is already obvious. We still don’t know what they have in their sleeves, and maybe some events and clues are being layed-out for this arc’s mystery. Personally, I could sum-up this mystery story arc is still a mystery (redundant pun not intended.) For fans of character interactions, this episode offers some funny ones involving Houtarou and Eru. Funnier to see it than to be spoilt about it though.
