First Impressions: Rinne no Lagrange S2
By DJ Meganekon on Sat, 14th Jul 2012
Oh Rinne no Lagrange, how elusive are you to me? I had you virtually ignored throughout the entire Winter 2012 anime season with big guns such as Mouretsu Pirates and Another blazing throughout the season. My passion-filled University schedule also didn’t help in making me underappreciate this series. Summer 2012 is now here and I finally got the chance to watch this more closely. By “closely” I mean, taking down notes in my head on how many plot details this has. For a “restart” of an entire series, it’s quite entertaining considering that almost all factors remained technically the same

Of course, the visuals remain the same. It’s still the same good detailing and smoothing for the characters with the same pseudo-psychedelic art for the background and setting. Mech and spaceship designs are still the same designs that are frankly reminiscent of STAR DRIVER to me. The animation further boosts that STAR DRIVER feel. It’s still the same impressive, but not jaw-dropping, experience of watching it.
I’m worried of having my first impressions post being spoiled by monotony caused by the obvious reason that this is just a continuation of the Winter half and that things haven’t changed except for the story being narrated. That being said; the quality of the voice acting, songs, background music remains the same. It’s good that they were able to sustain it. Wait a minute, a director for this series also directed Mouretsu Pirates! How am I supposed to forget that? Anyway, the narration and script writing remains the same – still entertaining.
It reminds me, I think I’ll want to cover this series on this project, that is if my schedule permits and if I get to rewatch the first half so I can refresh my mind on the plot points. I had been overpowered by the epicness of Mouretsu and I forgot most of this series’ plot. Oh well…
