This week’s episode prooves that absorbing story narrations are more fun in Mouretsu Pirates.

This twentieth episode introduces us to and develops Ai Hoshimiya as a strong-willed character and collected pilot. We already recognise her as the Bentenmaru‘s pilot during the yacht club’s term as the substitute crew. Like what was shown in last episode’s preview, Kane came back to be the club advisor and he fulfilled the role of the coach for the members’ training. The approach to layout all of the events in developing Ai Hoshimiya is predictable but was directed well. It didn’t feel cliché but knowing the pacing of the previous episodes, this episode wouldn’t increase interest to newer generations of audience, or to those not used with narration-heavy series. There are also hints of a possible conspiracy to disturb the upcoming dinghy race competition, fortunately (or unfortunately) the Bentenmaru was hired for a security escort job.
