The second episode of Listen to Me Girls. I am Your Father (which I won’t be repeating its name) suddenly turned into a bunny drop family drama. It still has that Ro-kyu-bu vibe into it, being that the girls are pretty adorable (by how it is presented). It did pull the right strings for it to be interesting. With Winter being bleak as snow, I can fancy myself to take this in for my episode blogging. As long as character drama is concerned, I am willing to take the challenge.
I haven’t read the synopsis so the twist it pulled near the end came to me unexpected. Although it foreshadows, or rather, the development is preparing itself to some tragedy in the making. It was subtle enough for me to not notice its execution. I like the way that pacing was slow to let me understand the characters and their personalities well. The past two episode did manage to open me to the sisters and how closely they love their family. Which closely relates to my standing when it comes to parents and the amount of love they put in their kids. The direction it took, which focuses more on the relationships of the family than inflaming the incest romance between the elder sister and his uncle. The death of the sister’s parents came as a huge blow to me. I felt sad and pitted the sister for the sad event. I find it a nice segway to inject it in the focus, being that they are now going to be living together as a family. I also love how it interjects the uncle’s story with her sister, taking the role as his parent. Which amplify the feeling of loss that I felt knowing that they died in that crash. His decision came understandable.
It is also a plus for me if a series takes itself in a realistic fashion. The notion that uncle just turned 19 (I think) and is pretty much poor himself, will need to take care three kids, which two of them entirely unrelated by blood. Incest aside, I sense that it will take that fact into consideration and place them in a very delicate situation. This is more challenging than Bunny Drop. I like to see how that sisters will man up to help their Uncle, which will get stumped on the task he just accepts to. Are they going to make sacrifice? That’s what I’m interested to know.
With this, my anticipation grows. Fan service aside, I like family stories. This one isn’t as bad as I think it is. As long as it pull the right cards.
Episode Rating: 4/5
