If there is one thing I do when I look at an Anime is to let the series tell me it’s worth. I read a lot of anime previews detailing why they love or hate the upcoming Anime based on the director, scriptwriter, studio, producer that will be doing the series. Indeed, that the human are predictable and doesn’t easily go outside their comfort zones, but I always leave the benefit of the doubt to for the team behind to see what they are capable off, leaving me to write First Impressions and not doing previews.
The case in this article doesn’t change that fact. I will look at the new Animes that will be arriving this October. But being human with biases, there are already Animes that I am looking forward to and goes to a Must watch state, because I am a fan of the series or had already experience its work. I will be leaving a lot of the new titles on the first impressions and I’ll focus on things that I am excited to watch.
Hunter X Hunter
Growing in the 90′s during GMA’s Anime era brought us this wonderful piece of Anime, that even now eludes us to its wonderful story – It you can keep up with the artwork and the hiatus Togashi been imposing. It’s has been 11 years since we first have the series in Television and after the jump-start of various classical Animes like Dragon Ball Kai, FMA, we now see this Anime breathing new life to the franchise.
Maybe after the Moe boom, we are also entering the recycling stage where we are starting to see old titles a second chance to cater the new fans. In the works, we are expecting Ruroni Kenshin to have a remake any time soon following the Manga after Shishio. I find this a good thing that we get to relive the classics we had known and love; however it also exposes us to potential train wreck it can be. Many loyal fans are already dishearten by the remake of this series. Due to most of the cast and the team are different from the original, and to much worse hailed it for being sub-par than the original.
I’m reserving judgement of it as of now. But being a Hunter X Hunter fan, I am delighted to see this once again in HD and with all the other kinks this era of Anime has.
I’m not sure if I can blog this on an episode basis, since the source material can outfit a years worth. I’ll just decide on it when it comes.
Shakugan No Shana Final
I did enjoy Shakugnan No Shana in its first season. The second season being nothing like it was used to. I’m still delighted to have this finally end the series that looked forward to since I started to watch Anime in 2007.
I don’t have expectations high on this. I just want to see this through the end, because I started it.
If the final season will reek nothing but Shana’s Tsundere nature, then I won’t be writing this.
Mobile Suit Gundam AGE
I have this personality that if people go on a certain direction I go to a different one. Gundam AGE is regarded the Black sheep among the Gundam enthusiast, buy brining kiddie art to their serious fandom.
Look, I’m no Gundam guy. I did review Gundam War in the Pocket which is interesting and sad. But it did prove to me that Mecha Anime can be enjoyed by its story and characters alone. I don’t see anything wrong with the story, it somewhat intriguing to say at least. I don’t even understand why the loyalist hate it for the art. The mecha designs look that same, only the characters change to something kidde like. The fanaticism in these are way too serious like those Apple Cult are. Seriously, don’t watch it if you don’t like it. Leave those people who enjoy anime enjoy it for what its worth.
I’ll be looking at this once it hits.
Shinryaku?! Ika Musume
One of the Moe blob done right, I guess. I have my share of enjoyment on this series, and it had garnered quite a respectable moe fans. It is simple comedy with a dash of cuteness in it. I have no problems of moe anime, except of driving the cuteness to replace for what it genre is.
I like Ika Musume and the first season has its good moments and best moments. The creators seem to know their work, and I am positive on what this season will become.
I don’t seem to see the point in discussing comedy, so I won’t be blogging this.
Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam
I happen to watch Last Exile and made a review of it here. It was a good anime the delivered a unique steam-punk world. It was a Anime the pushed the CG technology at the time to its limits. It was Gonzo’s great work before it tanked in the years after.
Since I’ve seen this Anime, the creators of the old one are manning this, makes it more evident that it will go into a good vibe to the fans of this series. At this point, this is the time that the fans and I agree on this point. Anyway, I watched and it’s not a remake so it somewhat inert that you would expect the same creators to deliver a new adventure.
I don’t see a point for not blogging this.
Mirai Nikki
I happen to watch the OAD of this series a weeks back. It reminded me of that dark atmosphere I felt when I was watching the first episode of Deadman Wonderland. A diary detailing your events in a span of 90 days. In Bakuman terms, these are your grey moral area battle series, where the main character has this power that can do either good or evil.
The OAD shows an interesting characters, yandere characters to be exact. I can’t be sure how it will be good in a long run. But it piqued my interest to look forward for its formal anime series.
I don’t see a point for not blogging this.
